Wesley Launius Obituary

Wesley A. Launius 81, passed away Wednesday, June 14, 2023, at home with his family by his side.

Wesley was born on December 13, 1941, in Bristow Oklahoma to Louie and Dovie Launius.

Early in life, our father learned the importance of hard work.  He graduated at 17 and joined the National Guard from 1959 to 1963.  He went straight into the Navy after National Guard.  He retired from AT&T after 20 years.  Moving to the beautiful Ozarks, he and his wife became licensed and ordained ministers.  He wrote many gospel songs.  He loved Christian music.  Always wanting to stay busy, he went to work for Clay Maxey as a driver for several years.

One of the kindest souls on this planet, our Dad was a gentle, giving man who worked tirelessly to ensure that his family had everything they needed.  He faced every challenge in life with admirable strength and courage.  He was always there for us, whether we needed help with our homework or just a shoulder to cry on.  He was a man of strong faith, and he taught us the importance of family, hard work, and doing what is right.

Our father was a true role model who we will always look up to.

He was preceded in death by his parents, a brother Leon Launius, two sisters Drew Holderfield and Donivee Chaney

Survivors are his devoted loving wife of 47 years Nina L. Launius, four children Joyce Bailey (Andrew), Wesley Steve Launius,  Glenn Baker (Tammy), and Tina Baker.   Six grandchildren that called him Papa:  Samantha Pederson, Austin Bailey, Nickolas Launius (Kaylee), Christopher Baker, Elliott Baker and Jace Launius.  Six Great-grandchildren that lovingly called him Uncle Papa:  Logan Pederson, Harlea Bailey, Braxton Bailey, Alayna Bailey, Aurora Launius and David Baker.

We would like to thank all that took part in his care:  Dr. Brownfield, Dr. Scott Ferguson, the staff at The Springs of Harrison, the staff with Legacy Hospice and his son-in-law Andrew Bailey who would come with me every day to bring him milkshakes or frosty’s and would sing with him.

Well done, thou good and faithful servant….

Enter thou into the Joy of the Lord.     Matthew   25:21

A celebration of life will be held at a later date.
