Paul “Hillbilly” Edward Mathis, 65, of Valley Springs, Arkansas, passed away at home with his family by his side on May 1, 2024. He was born on June 11, 1958, in Denton, Texas, the son of Ervin and Francis (Beaver) Mathis.
Hillbilly cherished his family time; he loved playing with the grandkids. Another thing he really liked to do was watching the granddaughters racing their four wheelers. He enjoyed raising his chickens, going fishing and hunting. He liked all things outdoors. Hillbilly liked dressing up his dog Taz and taking him to Walmart, just to see people’s reactions to Taz. He was very creative and enjoyed painting and making things. The name Hillbilly suited him so well, he definitely lived up to it.
He is preceded in death by his parents, Ervin and Francis.
He is survived by his sons Cody (Tabitha) Mathis and Rocky (Kareena) Mathis and four grandkids, Autumn, Jamie, Lilly and Elliot. Also, numerous friends and family members.
A Celebration of Life is planned for May 11th, 2024, at Lead Hill Park located in Lead Hill, Arkansas. The family plans on arriving at 8am and staying until 4pm. Around noon, they will be eating lunch. The family has requested guests to bring their favorite dessert or side dish. The day will be full of laughter and reminiscing about Hillbilly, eating and kids playing and having fun.
