Lucian Baltz

On September 21, 2023, Lucian (Pooch) Baltz passed away at the age of 86 near Protem, Missouri at his home on Bull Shoals Lake. 

He is survived by his wife of 64 years, Peggy, and six sons:  Ronnie of Elizabeth, Colorado, Roger of Helena, Montana, Kenny of Felton, California, Kelly of Eagle River, Alaska, Jason of Nashville, Tennessee and Josh of Libby, Montana.  He is also survived by 4 daughters-in-law, Jane, Beth, Laura, and Molly.

Lucian also had seven dearly loved grandchildren, Samantha, Zachary, Rachel, Maya, Zach, Luke and Jacob.

Lucian is the 11th of 12 children born to Bartholomew (Bartha) and Rosie Baltz of Pocahontas, Arkansas. He has 11 siblings:  sisters Catherine Barre, Helen Hunter (deceased), Alice Jansen and Francis Steimel (deceased); brothers James (deceased), Robert (deceased), Tom (deceased), Ray (deceased), Curtis (deceased), Finten (deceased) and Max.  Lucian had a very large host of nieces and nephews.

Lucian was known to his friends and family as “Pooch” and was a master carpenter who built many homes in Pocahontas.  He was a passionate outdoorsman who loved hunting and fishing. 

Lucian was a committed husband and father and was devoted to his family in every way.  He was baptized in and was a long-time member of St. Paul Catholic Church in Pocahontas and was a member of the Protem Community Church in Protem, Missouri.

A Celebration of Life event will be held for Lucian at the Protem Community Center in Protem, Missouri on Saturday September 30, at 12 noon.
