Kathleen “Kathy” Susan Dawson, 61, of Lead Hill, AR, passed away unexpectedly on August 3rd, 2023, at her home. Kathy was born on November 10th, 1961, to Ruth and John Ovington in Springfield, IL. Following graduation from Virden High School in 1979 she completed several college courses before starting her career with Illinois Department of Public Health where she worked for 35 years.
In 1988, she met her husband Brett while working at “Movers and Shakers”. They were married soon after on February 14th, 1990, in Jacksonville, IL. Both single parents, they came together to create a loving home where they raised their three boys. They enjoyed coaching their soccer teams and taking the boys on many adventures where many precious memories were made. Being a dedicated wife and mother brought Kathy so much joy.
After retiring in 2014 she and husband Brett moved to Lead Hill, AR after finding their perfect mountain property to settle down. Kathy loved tending to their ducks, chickens and beautiful home they created together. She enjoyed hosting guests and cooking delicious food for the ones she loved most. She was an avid Arkansas Razorbacks fan and enjoyed driving her Jeep she named, “Red”.
Kathy was predeceased by her brother Matthew Ovington and Becky Ovington and parents Ruth and John Ovington. She is survived by her husband Brett Dawson, sons Jeremy Bault, John Bault and Andrew Dawson, wife Kacie; siblings John Ovington, Amy Eskew, husband Gary, Craig Ovington, wife Diane and Jim Ovington, wife Elizabeth; grandchildren Anthony, Oliver and Asa as well as 11 cherished nieces and nephews. She is additionally survived by her three dogs, which she adored: Kalia, Kamen and Brizo.
Kathy was a devoted wife, caring mother and genuinely kind-hearted person who will be greatly missed. There will be a service held at Locust Church of Christ, 21003 AR – 14 N. in Lead Hill, AR at 11:00am, Saturday, August 12, 2023, followed by a celebration of life at the home of Troy and Tina Burleson at 4045 E. Black Ranch Road in Lead Hill, AR at 12:00.
