Johnnie Ayers Obituary

Johnnie Dean Ayers, age 78, passed away Saturday, June 25th, 2022 in Harrison, Arkansas. She was born on February 20th, 1944 in Mills County Texas to father, Johnny Marvin Woods, and mother, Johnnie Opal Ruedeen Farrar. She was married to William “Bill” Eugene Ayers for 35 years.

Johnnie and her husband moved from Odessa, Texas to Harrison in 2014. Together, they participated in many hobbies. They were members of the Permian Basin Hot Wheels, and won prizes for their 1966 red Mustang in several car shows. They were also members of the Celtic Heritage Society of the Permian Basin and the Fair Committee, joining in several Celtic festivals and celebrations. Johnnie and Bill were avid travelers. They cruised around the world from Alaska to Europe to the Caribbean.

Johnnie also enjoyed the classes and outings offered by the Boone County Senior Center and made many friends there. She loved scrapbooking and taking pictures.

She is preceded in death by her parents, brother, husband, and many four-footed family members, Mickey, Cognac, BJ, Gizzy, and Prissy. She is survived by many family and friends as well as her beloved cats, Lucy and Ethel.

Thank you to NARMC, Dr. Andrew Coble, Dr. Jim Langston, and Mount Vista Rehabilitation and Health Center for all their care. Johnnie requested no funeral services and instead wishes her friends to celebrate her life with a donation to Ozark Homeward Bound, a local animal shelter, as animals were such an important part of Johnnie’s life.
