Obituary

James Lawrence Sheets, 82, of Flippin, Arkansas, passed away on August 8, 2023. He was born April 1, 1941, in Port Royal, S. Carolina, the son of James and Roberta Sharp Sheets.

He is survived by his wife Connie of the home, his sons, Larry, Michael and John Sheets, a daughter, Lana Sheets, and a brother, Robert Sheets.

Young James was raised in Indiana.  He was a very hard worker and a very good father who loved his children dearly.  It was after Jim moved to Florida that he met and fell in love with Connie.   Connie loved the way Jim doted on her the rest of his life.  There wasn’t anything he wouldn’t do for her.  The two of them moved back to Indianapolis after getting married in 1996.  In 2001, Jim decided they should move to the mountains, so it was Arkansas where they finally settled after retiring from GM Motors as a machinist.   Jim bought a boat and he and Connie would fish in the White River and Bull Shoals Lake.  When Connie wasn’t available to go fishing, Jim would take his good friend Ron Harris, and they had the best time, and since then their families have become like family.   Jim and Connie spent many years enjoying the Ozarks and making life-long friends.  James had become a very good Christian and loved his church and the people who attend there.    James was a hard worker and was an asset to the community.  He helped remodel several businesses in the area and was a welcome and necessary help to family members and friends that needed home projects finished.  In his retirement, Jim would play golf, until his health made it difficult to play.  Jim enjoyed watching the Indianapolis Colts and the Kansas City Chiefs, while loving his little dog, Pearl.

Jim loved everyone, and everyone loved Jim.  He was fun and a teaser.  He had his favorites that he almost always teased.  He will be dearly missed by many.

Jim is preceded in death by his parents, his daughter, Laura Sheets and a sister, Shirley Sheets.

A Celebration of Life will be held at 3PM, Sunday, October 1, 2023, at Summit Pentecostal Church, in Summit Arkansas, officiated by minister Ronnie Harris.
