James Edward Mead Sr., 85, of Mountain Home, Arkansas passed away at Hospice of the Ozarks on March 2, 2025. He was born in Trumann, Arkansas on October 24, 1939, the son of Felix and Dorothy (Russell) Mead.
When James was young, he felt it was his calling to be an evangelist. He performed his first funeral when he was only 19 years old. He continued teaching the word of God up into his early 30’s. Then James became a businessman, he sold books, owned and operated a mini golf course, had a couple for motels, owned storage units and had a pawn shop at one time. When James wasn’t busy in all his endeavors he enjoyed riding his motorcycle. He rode to Alaska once; he loved riding out west. Sometimes his children went on long journeys with him. James appreciated learning about history; he enjoyed reading nonfiction books. James was a great storyteller, the family would sit around the room and listen to him for hours.
James is preceded in death by his parents and sister Carolyn Mead. He is survived by his son Eddie (Ruby) Mead and daughter Nikki (Lance) Watkins, 4 grandchildren and 5 great grandchildren. Also, he leaves behind his siblings, Jeff Mead, Vicki Mead, Shirley Mead and many nieces and nephews. Throughout the years, James developed many friendships and those that are still living will miss him dearly.
