James Ross Holt, 80, of Harrison, went to his heavenly home on Friday, May 3rd, 2024, at Hospice of The Hills in Harrison, surrounded by family. Ross was born July 5, 1943, to John Roy and Ruth Davis Holt. He was preceded in death by his parents; a brother, David Holt; a sister, Judy Kirton; and an infant brother. He is survived by his loving wife, Dottie (Troutman); three children; Jamie Holt, of Harrison; Amy Rea (Todd), of Harrison; and Sarah Hickam (Stuart), of Rogers; five grandchildren Austin Rea, of Harrison; Bekka Holt(Devon), of Fayetteville; Brooke Holt (Brett), of Fayetteville; Abby Rea (Brandon), of Olathe, Kansas; Harper Hickam, of Rogers; two great-grandchildren; Kai and Tilly Rea, of Harrison; and a host of family and friends.
Ross graduated from Harrison High School and Draughon College of Business in Springfield, Missouri. He worked in retail management in the Harrison and Mountain Home area most of his life, where he was highly respected by his coworkers. Ross married his high school sweetheart, Dottie (Troutman) on July 4, 1963, at Valley Springs Baptist Church, they celebrated their 60-year anniversary in 2023.
Ross loved classic trucks, and enjoyed riding his John Deere mower, maintaining an immaculate lawn, tending to his flowers, and lending a helping hand to neighbors and friends. He discovered a talent for wood working, and over the years, he crafted wooden rocking horses for his grandchildren, nieces and nephews, and special friends.
His family will always remember him as a loving husband, father, and Papa who gave wise advice, who was always willing to lend a listening ear, and who would make time to fix what needed repaired.
Ross was a member of Crossroads Community Church in Harrison, where a memorial service will be held Saturday, June 8, 2024, at 11:00 a.m. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorials be made to Crossroads Community Church or Hospice of The Hills.
