Floyd A. Rivera. Floyd Alberto Rivera, 88, passed away on November 13, 2024, at The Blossoms Nursing Home, in Berryville, Arkansas. Born on August 21, 1936, in Amalia, New Mexico.
Floyd dedicated his life to hard work and exploration, with a deep love for the outdoors, particularly fishing and hunting in his beloved southern Sangre de Cristo Mountains. Floyd proudly served his country in the US Army from 1959 to 1962. His career path was diverse and fulfilling, working as a sawmill foreman, rancher, and farmer in the San Luis Valley. He retired after a significant tenure with Walmart, where he started as a carpenter in the Fixture Shop at the Home Office in Bentonville, Arkansas, and later became a supervisor at the Distribution Center in Nebraska. Floyd's varied experiences also included roles as a cowboy in Wyoming, a potato farmer, and an EMT in southern Colorado.
He is survived by his children, daughter Angela Rivera Borill and her husband Reese of Morse, LA, son Randall Rivera and his wife Celie of Lafayette, LA, son Miguel Rivera of Crowley, LA, and son Mario Rivera of Alamosa, CO. His legacy continues through his grandchildren Ryan Rivera Beslin, Austin Rivera, Andrew Rivera, Aubrey Rivera Bailey, Alex Rivera, and Payton Rivera, and great-grandchildren Ethan Hanks, Xadius Hanks, David Rivera, Levi Rivera, and Lucy Rivera. Floyd's life was also enriched by his sisters Cerbie Rivera Barfoot, Lorraine Rivera Sandoval, and Marie Rivera Sanchez, and his brothers Eleuto and Larry Rivera. Jo Ann Primeaux, the mother of three of his children, also survives him. He was preceded in death by his parents, Ambrocio and Rosenda Gallegos Rivera, his grandparents Julian & Miguelita Rivera, and Adolpho & Beatrice Gallegos, his beautiful granddaughter Eryn Borill, and the mother of his fourth child, Lola Balzer .
Floyd's hobbies included fishing, hunting, traveling, and carpentry, which not only filled his leisure time but also enriched his life with joy and adventure. In accordance with his wishes, there will be no memorial services. Floyd will be cremated and his ashes spread in the mountains he so deeply loved.
Cremation arrangements are under the care of Diamond State Cremation in Lead Hill, Arkansas.
