Fern Saine Obituary

Fern Aline Steward born in Ava, Ok. on August 31, 1922, to Cyrus and Linda (Barney) Steward.  Fern  married Eldridge William Saine on March 24, 1945.  Their marriage produced three children:  Alvin Eldridge Saine, Douglas Francis Saine, Dorri Joy Tyree and an adopted son Alejandro Olvera.

Fern was preceded in death by her husband and son Douglas.  Fern is survived by her son Alvin (Patsy) Saine of Gravette AR. and daughter Dorri (Ed) Tyree of Harrison, AR.  Her grandchildren include: Brian (Zanetta) Saine of Gravette, AR. Tammy (Randy) Boyer of Bentonville, AR.  Kristi (Perry) Longo of Denver CO., Tim (Samantha) Saine of Manzanola CO., Billie Joe (Kayleigh) Contreras of Harrison, AR.  Jesse and Ariel Contreras of Harrison, AR., Julian Contreras of Springfield, MO.   Fern had 22 great-grandchildren and loved each one dearly.  She had many nieces and nephews that had a special place in her heart.

Fern was a housewife all her life.  She was a wonderful cook and was especially known for her big pans of homemade cinnamon rolls.  She loved to sew and made all her own dresses until she was no longer able to sit for long periods of time at her sewing machine.   She crocheted and embroidered to keep her hands busy.  She loved word find books and worked them to keep her mind sharp.

Fern loved God and prayed daily for her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren; she filled many books with journaling.  Much of her writing told of her walk with God.  A short clip from her journal January 6, 2011: “These are the best days of my life.  I am so glad I sold out to go with God.  I am amazed at the change He has made in me.  Sunday night the songs touched my heart and I felt God’s presence.  He knows I love His presence.  I just want all of God I can get.  He is so dear to me.”

She will be sadly missed.
