Edith Irene Donton, 90, of Yellville, Arkansas, passed away March 7, 2021, in Mountain Home, Arkansas. Edith was born March 11, 1930, in Park Place, Pennsylvania, the daughter of William and Minnie Foose Kemery.
Edith (Taffy), grew up in Pennsylvania. As a girl her and her family would make taffy, and it was her love of taffy that Edith acquired her nickname.
While skating at the local roller-rink one afternoon, Taffy met the love of her life for her next 71 years, Herman Donton. Herman said they never had an argument! They complimented each other famously. Herman helped Taffy whenever he could with household chores. It was not unusual to see Herman cooking and cleaning for Taffy, even when her health was still good. Edith was a wonderful wife, woman and mother to her large and tight-knit family. She and Herman raised 5 sons together along with many of their beloved dogs along the way. In Taffy’s younger days, she worked at a shoe factory, a nursing home, and she was a cook, but the thing she loved most was raising her family with Herman and loved helping to raise her grandchildren, and great-grandchildren.
Another of Taffy’s passions was her German Shepherds that her and Herman raised through the years, and they had many that they loved dearly.
Edith is survived by her husband Herman, of the home, 5 sons; Herman Jr., Jimmy, Larry, Scott and Craig Donton.
Edith also has 7 grandchildren, 15 great-grandchildren and 3 great-great-grandchildren. Taffy will be missed terribly by many.
A Memorial Service will be held at a later time.
