Carolyn Sue (Russell) Cates

Carolyn Sue Cates, lovingly known as Sue Dooly, Carolina, or Hollywood, went home to

be with the Lord on November 21, 2025, at the age of 73. Born on December 13, 1951,

in Gassville, Arkansas, Carolyn lived a life filled with laughter, love, and faith.

A devoted mother to her daughters Sheila and Melissa, Carolyn treasured her family

above all else. She was a proud grandmother to JJ, John, Bruce, Gerrie, Dillon, Kayla,

Kristen, and Abby, and she found her greatest joy in spending time with her great-

grandchildren. Her family was her ministry, and she loved each of them with a generous

and faithful heart.

Carolyn had a bright spirit and a deep appreciation for the simple blessings God placed

in her life. She adored Elvis, never missed an episode of Days of Our Lives, and shared

a special companionship with her beloved dog, Presley. Her humor, warmth, and

unmistakable personality brought joy to all who knew her.

Carolyn is preceded in death by her parents, Bill and Lydia Russell; her brother, James;

her sister, Joyce; her brother, Mike; and her beloved granddaughter, Kayla. Her family

takes comfort in knowing that she is now reunited with them, resting in the presence of

her Savior and surrounded by everlasting peace.

A Celebration of Life will be held at a later date. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that

donations to be made to the Yellville Area Food Closet, a cause that reflects Carolyn’s

generous heart and her desire to care for others.

Though she will be profoundly missed, Carolyn’s legacy of love, resilience, and faith will

continue to shine through the lives of those she leaves behind.
