Bernard “Bernie” E. Woolwine, age 90, of Lead Hill, passed away on Monday, December 19th at the Highland Nursing Facility in Harrison. He was born on April 30, 1932, in Staunton, Virginia to Mary Woolwine.
Bernie is survived by his wife of 68 years, Linda Doneski Woolwine; daughters, Wendy Lowry of Lead Hill; Wanda Kovacs of Nixa, MO and son, Dale (Sharon) Woolwine of Bergman; five grandchildren, Brandon (Mandy) Lowry, Kevin Lowry, Amanda Mary Kovacs, Justin (Samantha) Woolwine and Matthew Woolwine; four great-grandchildren, Kiersten and Kenzye Lowry and Joseph and Isabella Woolwine; his nephew Raymond (Dawn) Doneski; and numerous family and friends.
Bernie is preceded in death by his mother and son-in-law Ed Lowry.
Together, Bernie and Linda owned the Tucker Hollow Boat Dock for over 30 years. Bernie loved Tucker Hollow along with all of the friends he made throughout the years who became family as well. Bernie was happiest sitting on the dock, chatting away with anyone and everyone stopping by. He never met a stranger; everyone was a friend, and he would give you the shirt of his back if you needed it. For those who knew Bernie, you could not think of Tucker Hollow without thinking of him. Bernie loved his family and was the absolute best husband, dad and grandpa.
Bernie was “one of a kind”.
A Celebration of Bernie’s Life will be held at Tucker Hollow in the Spring, an exact date to be announced.
