Kenneth Ray Oxford

November 28, 1943 ~ May 19, 2021 (age 77)

Kenneth was born November 28, 1943, to Mack and Lily May Cochran Oxford. Kenneth moved to Heaven May 19, 2021, at his home in Yellville, Arkansas.

Kenneth is survived by his wife, Jean Lake Oxford of 53 years, his two sons; Kenneth Ross and Stuart Logan (Megan), three grandchildren; Rody Mack and Hanah Lael of Colorado, and Conner Clay of Yellville, Arkansas, a sister; Brenda Black of Flippin, Arkansas and numerous cousins.

Kenneth attended school in Yellville and always loved playing baseball. He once tried out with the Pittsburgh Pirates and was invited to return the next day but the person he traveled with was not invited back so he returned home. Kenneth continued to coach and play with local teams and helped a team of Highway Department employees win a tournament at Dardanelle. He was also a class “C” state horseshoe pitching champion and took the trophy home in 1992.

Kenneth married Jean in 1968 and went to work for the Arkansas Highway and Transportation Department that same year as a front-end loader operator. Five years later he was promoted to the assistant foreman position. Three years later he was again promoted to supervisor at the Marion County maintenance office for the A.H.T.D., a position he held until his retirement in 2002.

Mr. Oxford enjoyed about 19 years of retirement working with his cattle and enjoying the fruits of his 33 years and 8 months with the Arkansas Highway and Transportation Department. A Memorial Service will be held at a later time.
